Instructions

Density can be determined by dividing the mass of an object by its volume.

Density Formula - How To Calculate Density

Density of a Regular Shared Object

  • Mass can be determined using a triple beam balance or an electronic scale
  • Volume can be determined by measuring and multiplying the length, width, and height (Length X Width x Height

Density of an Irregular Shaped Objec

  • Mass can be determined using a triple beam balance or an electronic scale
  • Volume can be determined using water displacement with a graduated cylinder

Density of Water

  • The density of water is 1 g/ml
  • An object with a density greater than 1 g/mL will sink when placed into water
  • An object with a density less than 1 g/mL will float when placed into water
