BIOGRAPHY

I was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. I studied at the University of Texas A & M Corpus Christi and there received my bachelor's in Fine Arts along with my teaching certificate in all level art education. Being passionate about art, I decided to share my knowledge teaching with the students and staff at Adkins Middle School. This year will be my seventh year teaching and coaching at Adkins. On my free time, I love making art and spending time with family and friends.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In Art I we will be learning all about the Elements and Principles of Art. These are the rules that govern and guide an artist in their creations. We will be learning how to channel our creativity through sketching, shading, coloring, painting, sculpting and collage making. Within ART I we will introduce you to all of the primary artist mediums such as graphite, ink, colored pencil, marker, pastels, paints, paper mache, clay and the ability to upcycle everyday objects into art. Students are expected to learn reasoning and design skills. They are expected to “think outside the box” in their creations. They will be taught to care for, CLEAN and maintain the art room supplies, tables, floors and chairs. Students will get dirty! They’re hands will be covered with glue paste, paint, clay and other art mediums. We do not do Arts and Crafts. This is a Fine Art class with high levels of expectation. Student’s grades will be based on their levels of participation, craftsmanship, creativity, composition of Elements and Principles of Art, Procedures and Aesthetics.
